Every student deserves the arts

For the students who don’t know yet.

Students cannot choose an opportunity
they never knew existed.

Why every student deserves the arts

We don't believe every student must become an artist.

We believe every student deserves the chance to find out.

Fine Arts education opens doors to experiences students may never have imagined for themselves. When students have meaningful opportunities to encounter the arts, they gain the chance to discover new interests, abilities, communities, and possibilities.

Our job is to keep that door open.

Education should not only prepare students for the future they already imagine.

It should help them discover possibilities
they have never imagined.

Why Fine Arts?

Education.

Creativity, communication, collaboration, discipline, and problem-solving belong in a well-rounded education.

discovery.

Students cannot discover an interest, talent,
or future they were never given the
opportunity to explore.

Access.

Meaningful arts experiences should not depend on whether a student already knows to seek them out.

belonging.

Fine Arts classrooms create communities where students can find their people, their voice, and their place.

opportunity.

Exposure opens doors to interests, skills, careers, and possibilities students
may never have imagined.

No Specific Fine Arts Requirement

Beginning with the Class of 2029, Indiana’s redesigned diploma system no longer includes a specific Fine Arts credit requirement within its honors-level structure.

Indiana has already recognized Fine Arts as part of an Academic Honors education. We are asking the state to continue that commitment as Indiana transitions to its redesigned diploma system.

Preserve a two-credit Fine Arts requirement within Indiana’s honors-level diploma structure.
